The Bills also said on Twitter that Ryan's brother, Rob Ryan, was sacked from his position as an assistant head coach with the responsibility to oversee defense.

After firing Rex Ryan, the Buffalo Bills insist they are focused on their Week 17 game against the New York Jets.

Taylor is coming off of arguably his best game of the 2016 season in Saturday's 34-31 overtime loss to the Miami Dolphins.

As mentioned before, Ryan's departure has been fairly openly discussed for a number of weeks. Ryan is the twin brother of Rex.

Taylor has started in all 15 games played this season, and has played in 29 games in two seasons with the Bills. But once his roster was weakened by attrition and some poor personnel decisions - including the 2012 Tim Tebow fiasco - Ryan's weaknesses as a coach and disciplinarian were unmasked, and he didn't had a winning season in his final four years with the Jets. But Lynn is reportedly fine with not having complete control, giving the front office all the more incentive to keep him around as their head coach.

They are the highest-scoring team in the National Football League , armed with the No. 3 passing attack and No. 8 rushing offense. The touchdown catch was Bryant's 66th as a Cowboy, which vaulted him ahead of Michael Irvin for second in franchise history.

The Bills lost their final home game of the season and any last hope for the playoffs on Christmas Eve against the Dolphins. The team presumably will decide this offseason if Taylor is the long-term answer for the team at the quarterback spot. It seemed like he was somewhat caged in his first year in Buffalo, saying the right things and trying to be cool, calm, and collective while continuing to be a players' coach. LeSean McCoy has had one of his best seasons, which put the Bills in a position to be successful. He did not want to get ahead of himself, and instead, stay in the present. Early this week the Buffalo Bills organization has relieved Rex and Rob Ryan of their duties.

Ryan's defense and passing offense remained question marks. "Then nine times out of ten, a team will throw something out there that we weren't prepared for, and then the adjustment to it, we had to get use to and try to make it happen and make plays". The coach vaguely referred to it as "a business decision", made by the owners and General Manager Doug Whaley, presumably to avoid the risk of injury that could force the Bills to pay Taylor $27.5 million if he suffered an injury that would prevent him from playing next season. Ryan does not figure to be an immediate candidate for either of the latter two jobs, nor would it be likely for him to land anywhere in the National Football League as a head coach this coming off-season.

According to multiple reports, it's because Ryan refused to bench starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor. Here are five potential teams for the former Bills coach in 2017.

That's not what's expected of a coach who is supposed to specialize on the defensive side of the ball.
