Guardiola calls for patience after Anfield setback

The win allowed Liverpool to move to within six points of Premier League leaders Chelsea as they moved back above Manchester City, who they host at Anfield on New Year's Eve.

"Now he is back in the team with a lot of other really good players that makes life not easier for us". Surprisingly, they have won only four of their nine home games but took six points and scored six times in their last three matches at the Hawthorns.

If the discussion is already moving to a summer reassessment Guardiola has clearly accepted that, bar the Champions League, this season is nearly already a write off.

"We are only entering the second half of the season and there is still more than five months to go so it's a bit early to be worrying too much". The last time they won four consecutively against Manchester City was in 1981 (a run of seven).

"The way they are training I am glad".

"With back-to-back wins over Middlesbrough and Sunderland, Burnley nearly have a free hit here, in the sense they can afford to try their luck knowing that defeat is far from calamitous".

"These are new things for everybody". "When you are losing like that and Liverpool are the better side then it's not going to be happy at half-time".

"Throughout my career as a manager, I've never expected anything to happen". I'm sure it will just get better and better and he will be very successful. "I was there a lot of times with Barcelona and Bayern Munich".

So neither Liverpool nor City can afford to lose a game that has the makings of a classic, given the teams' attractive and attacking style of play.

Ronda Rousey defeated in under a minute
She did speak with Ellen DeGeneres last month, when she explained how the lead-up to the big fight can be mentally exhausting. It took 48 seconds for Amanda Nunes to knock Ronda Rousey not only from her perch but into a position of career turmoil.

"We saw against Hull, they were giving a decent account and it was tight and cagey and then bam bam bam the game's gone".

Liverpool represents a huge challenge for City and the result could have a say in their battle for the Premier League title.

Guardiola rejected the notion that goalkeeper Claudio Bravo was to blame when Wijnaldum derailed a promising start for the visitors at Anfield and praised aspects of defensive play from his team that were ultimately in vain. "In 2014, we had a very good run after the New Year, we won almost all the games".

He said: "I am not a guy to personalise and and say we lost for that reason".

Kevin De Bruyne is a creative machine who can play in a number of positions and can add more goals to his game than he has shown this term, while Nolito has shown his potency despite limited starts. "Good players - and we've also got good people". Hendo is limping, it is probably a little bit more pain.

"We tried to set the pace and the tone for the game".

Klopp stuck with the same team that had beaten Middlesbrough and Everton away in their last two outings as Simon Mignolet was again preferred to Loris Karius in goal.

"We were quite stable behind". OK, there will be pressure on Liverpool to win that game, but the longer the season goes on there will be more pressure on Chelsea too.
