Different outside linebackers, different result for Steelers against Dolphins

The Steelers did a terrific job of keeping Ajayi out of the game, and at the same time disrupting Miami's offensive game plan.

Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell ran for 11 yards on the first play, cutting through the Dolphins defense. Pittsburgh's offense line consistency created rushing lanes for the young runner.

That's debatable though, as Moore proceeded to come back in and air mail an incompletion on 3rd down to force Miami into a field goal situation. On the ensuing series, Brown outran the Dolphins secondary for a 62-yard touchdown. Jay AjayiIn the Week 6 meeting, Ajayi ran for 204 yards against the Steelers, the first of two-straight 200-yard rushing performance and three such games in 2016. The run put Bell at 165 yards for the game, the most in a postseason Steelers game since Harris in the 1975 Super Bowl.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who shocked the Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals with end-of-game Hail Mary touchdowns last season, stunned the Giants with a 42-yard Hail Mary touchdown to Randall Cobb on the final play of the first half of the NFC wild card playoff game at frigid Lambeau Field in Green Bay.

On the down side in an otherwise bright locker room, Roethlisberger limped away from his press conference with a walking boot on his right ankle.

Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown collaborated on two scores on the first two drives of the game for the Steelers that gave them a quick 14-0 lead. The second came on a simple slant route, when the Dolphins had single coverage on Brown, with one safety helping over the top.

The Dolphins could have cut their 14-point deficit in half. Then he threw an interception to Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier in the middle of the third quarter. These plays shouldn't have been highlights, but Brown's remarkable acceleration combined with comically poor play by Miami's second-choice defenders made them highlights. He would finish the game 13-for-18 passing for 197 yards, tossing two touchdowns and two interceptions. Brown also went for 50 yards on a screen, a perfectly blocked play on which Lippett showed the tackling skills of a college wide receiver. After the team's 30-12 win over the Miami Dolphins, the news was positive for the black and gold.

Harrison continues to win those battles, this time beating the Dolphins to a pulp. Pittsburgh did not let the young running back fun free today.

Berry remembered to finish his own cadence and finish flagging the defensive back in front of him. Ajayi left the game in the fourth quarter with a shoulder injury. That ended with the coup de grace, an 8-yard run by Bell behind the blocks of David DeCastro and David Johnson. While Moore only led his team to the end zone once, he made some great throws and kept drives alive. If this game were being played in New Jersey I'd have to take a chance on them, but Lambeau Field in January is a cruel mistress.
