Classical Rooney overtakes Bobby Charlton

A late goal from Red Devils' prolific scorer, Wayne Rooney, helped his team get a 1-1 draw with Stoke at Bet365 stadium on Saturday.

Juan Mata's deflection past his own goalkeeper had raised the hope that Stoke manager Mark Hughes, a former United striker, could enjoy a victory over his old club.

While quick to acclaim Rooney's "amazing achievement", Mourinho cut a frustrated figure once again as he reflected on two more Premier League points lost and the fact that any chance of United mounting a belated title challenge is receding fast.

The 31-year-old equalled Charlton's record in an FA Cup meeting with Reading earlier this month.

"Rooney was so consumed in his post-match interview by the fact that Manchester United had salvaged a point in such hard circumstances that his record-breaking exploit had become secondary".

It's a great honour - I'm very proud.

It would be cruel not to include Wayne Rooney's 250 goal for Manchester United in the list.

The end result could be higher prices in the near-term, but a renewed downturn in prices as USA shale comes back. Libya and Nigeria are exempt from participating in OPEC's production cut plans.

His best scoring season for United was in 2009-10, when he netted 33 goals in all competitions (26 in the league) and he was named English soccer's player of the year by his fellow professionals.

"This is a player who deserves all the plaudits".

Sir Bobby Charlton, the previous holder of the record at 249 goals, was peering on from the stands. However, I can honestly say that I'm delighted for Wayne. To surpass him in goals is something I never thought I'd do. He has been carrying the load at one of the biggest footballing institutions on the planet, and doing so before the gaze of millions.

There really is no requirement to justify a career that will see him exit as the record scorer for club and country.

A great goal by a great player and superb servant to the club.

"I'd also like to say a big "thank you" to my family and to Paul Stretford who has played a huge role in my life as a friend and an agent". He curled a beautifully placed free kick straight into the top corner in the 94 minute securing a point for the team.

Yesterday, Rooney was presented with a lifetime achievement award by the Football Writers' Association in a ceremony that had been arranged before the goal at Stoke.
