US President's cabinet confirmation slowest since George Washington

Bernie Sanders, who backs Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), responded with a tart statement: "Do we stay with a failed status quo approach or do we go forward with a fundamental restructuring?"

The truth is that these are false equivalencies.

The Trump "movement, " as the president himself likes to describe his election, has put some New Jersey Republicans in a bind.

Booker appears to be maturing into a formidable presidential candidate though he'd likely face challenges from more senior politicians in his potential fight for the Democratic nomination. Now that the table has turned, Democrats are enraged at the prospect of a powerful President Trump. To the extent that he contributed to Donald Trump's defeat of Hillary Clinton, we owe him an everlasting debt of gratitude. Every Democratic National Convention I watched on TV as a young person always had as its theme some variation on party unity. Democrats didn't want to shift the president's clout to a Republican Congress.

But times are different.

First, despite the revisionist history of Fox News and others, Obama tried to work with Republicans - much to the frustration of us, his base.

Last day of Obamacare open enrollment sets record in NY
While there's a lot of uncertainty about the future of Obamacare, Tuesday marks the last day to enroll for coverage for 2017. But right now, it's important to know that Obamacare is in effect for 2017 health coverage as long as you pay your premiums.

At his own press availability outside a closed policy luncheon on the Hill, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said getting through Trump's cabinet nominees is "taking longer than it should, but we'll get through all of them sooner rather than later". The Republican wave in 2010 was fueled by voter backlash against Obama's policies, headlined by the health care law that quickly became known as "Obamacare". The Gang of Six, the senators tasked with crafting bipartisan healthcare reform, included three members from both parties. They no longer need 60 votes.

Sadly, that's been the Palmetto State's governing coalition ever since Republicans claimed control of the S.C. House (in 1995) and the State Senate (in 2000). If Democrats block the GOP, voters won't blame Republicans for the failure - especially not after watching months of public demonstrations of spiteful obstruction. Yet, ultimately, the ACA passed on party-line votes, so it may seem like this was Obama jamming through liberal Democratic legislation.

"I agree with that description, if you remove the "et" from asset", Curry told The Mercury News when asked about the comments from Kevin Plank. They walked out of committee hearings to advance Cabinet nominees, and Schumer threatened a possible filibuster against the Supreme Court nomination of Neil Gorsuch.

In the U.S. House, Republicans will be aided by favorable district boundaries that were drawn to maintain GOP political dominance. He is not saying obstruct. Politico reports that Senate Democrats have begun strategizing for a partial or total government shutdown. But she was quick to note that the 11th Legislative District didn't support Trump and that she supported moderate Republican Gov. John Kasich for president, not Trump.

"Resist" is simple, punchy and clear - but it's only the beginning of a strategy to revive the Democrats' fortunes.

But, McConnell knows how to work the Senate as well as anyone in the history of the Senate, so he waited for his moment and when it came, he seized it. Even if Republicans come up with a consensus scheme, it's now no longer certain they can stop congressional defections of conservatives who are impatient with the pace of change on health-care policy, or those GOPers who are anxious about disruptions of existing insurance. It may only fuel the resistance movement, but that is a fire that he built.
