In the face of this reality, International Women's Day also gives us an opportunity to celebrate the fantastic women that are working to make a difference in our local community.

March 8 is International Women's Day.

Many women's magazines will continue operations as usual, but with increased focus on International Women's Day, women's issues and the strike itself. However, the event has been on the receiving end of criticism in recent days since many are saying it unfairly favors privileged women who can afford to take a day off of work.

Participants in Denver are expected to gather at the State Capitol to spotlight the economic power and value of women and their contributions to society.

We must also foster an inclusive and gender equal world, where women and girls, men and boys will relate and work as equals, a world that has zero tolerance for practices that degrade or discriminate against women and girls. Because women spend each day being fearless, breaking stereotypes, managing expectations and building dreams.
