Tar Heels to wait and see if guard Joel Berry can play

So the teams meet Sunday night in the NCAA Tournament's second round at Bon Secours Arena with similar objectives.

In a building in which No. 2 seed Duke would later lose to No. 7 seed SC to become the eighth ACC team to be sent home during the NCAA Tournament's opening weekend, the Tar Heels survived and advanced to play in their 28th Sweet 16 and 35th regional semifinal.

Although the Razorbacks were in shambles early as the Tar Heels pounded the offensive glass and forced turnovers left and right, they snapped out of their malaise, closed the opening frame on a 16-6 run and entered halftime down five points.

"The fact Arkansas is paired with North Carolina again is just a sheer coincidence", said Worlock, a Henderson State graduate and former Reddies sports information director. "So I didn't want that same thing happening". "But they did what an experienced team do: They made the plays going down the stretch".

"We going to Memphis; we going to Memphis", Greensboro native Theo Pinson said, smiling.

"But they had some other guys, the big guys, really dominating the glass as we went up and down the floor".

First, Arkansas' Daryl Macon attempted a jumper from behind the three-point line that was contested by North Carolina while the Tar Heels had a one-point lead.

Eighth-seeded Arkansas was anxious to play fast in its 77-71 conquest of Seton Hall in the first round. "I guess those stats are for [the media], but we've just got to continue to play". Just don't expect Arkansas coach Mike Anderson - an assistant to Nolan Richardson during the Razorbacks' famed press-and-trap-heavy "40 Minutes of Hell" era - to be one of them by having his team grinding out time-killing possessions.

Beating England only spur Irish need: Best
Ireland survived on pure ferocity and tight-game torment - and the shell-shocked English simply offered no answer. There are brilliantly coached and they executed their plans well.

"I'm feeling pretty good", Berry said.

Jonathan Hughes went four innings on the mound for the Jackets, striking out three and giving up an earned run. Berry returned to the action briefly.

"I did what Coach always said: that's get in front of the defender when the shot goes up, and it fell on my hands", Meeks said. Justin Jackson led the team with 21 points and seven rebounds while Isaiah Hicks added 17 points and six rebounds.

Texas (24-8) earned its No. 3 seed with a resume that included a 19-game win streak that had the Longhorns poised to knock off Baylor in the Big 12. Meeks tipped it in to put North Carolina up 68-65.

But the Tar Heels responded in a huge way. After UNC's victory, Berry said he landed on someone's foot. Berry showed no signs of the ankle bothering him, hitting his first 3-point attempt just more than a minute into the game. "It was tiring, but that's what it is supposed to be like".

The team with three returnees who were on the court for Villanova's title-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer previous year had enough composure to shake off everything on a day rapidly going wrong. All of them are point guards, and Britt and White are seniors with NCAA tournament experience. He said it fought through it more on the defensive end because that's where the Tar Heels needed it the most. "(They) play more with a similar flow to us.

"Arkansas likes to make the game chaotic, and I think that's fun".
