The precinct 3 Harris County Deputy Constable was shot just after 7 am today in the 700 block of West Baker Road near Garth Road, in Baytown.

Baytown police, who are leading the investigation, have been unable to determine the shooter's motive, but believe the shooting was intentional, Lieutenant Steve Dorris said.

Investigators are not yet sure whether Greenwood was targeted individually or because he was in uniform. Another deputy applied pressure to Greenwood's neck until a medical helicopter transported him to Houston's Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he died, KTRK-TV, Houston, reported. Chief Deputy Clint Greenwood, a veteran law enforcement officer and attorney, was shot in the neck and killed this morning by a killer who is still on the run.
