Prison: Aaron Hernandez elated about acquittal, not suicidal

A report on the police investigation into the suicide contained this passage: "Another source stated that Hernandez had recently mentioned a rumor".

By telling his fiancee "You're Rich", Hernandez appears to be inferring in the letter than any of his assets withheld due to his conviction should go to her following his death.

People are still trying to unpack and deal with the life of Aaron Hernandez, who committed suicide last month.

Hernandez's body was found with the words "John 3:16" written on his forehead in ink and on the wall of his cell in blood, according to a state police report released on Thursday.

Some inmates said Hernandez had become increasingly spiritual during his time in prison.

Hernandez's attorney, Jose Baez, did not dispute the conclusions of the report, but in a statement vowed "a thorough and independent investigation into this tragic death". "The family members were victims in this matter and deserve better treatment by the Commonwealth of MA". "Accordingly, we intend to fully, completely and impartially review all of the evidence in this matter".

He was also disciplined for aggravated assault and refusing orders.

Hernandez was serving a life sentence for the murder of Odin Lloyd in 2013.

Along with his fiancee, Hernandez left behind a four-year-old daughter, Avielle Janelle Jenkins-Hernandez. Hernandez's appeal hadn't been heard yet when he killed himself.

"After the unit was secured, I did open Cell 55 and [the inmate] housed in Cell 15 walked out and back to his cell", an officer wrote.

The Capitals dominated the Penguins so thoroughly that Pittsburgh only had nine shots on goal after 40 minutes. Two wins in elimination games later, and the Capitals have pushed all of that pressure back onto the Penguins.

The report explained that Hernandez's right middle finger had a fresh cut and blood was also found on the adjacent finger.

Hernandez's third disciplinary entry for fighting was logged on June 10, 2016, when he had gotten into a fistfight with another inmate outside their cell.

Video surveillance showed Hernandez smoking tobacco product from a homemade cigarette and then passing it to another unnamed person on July 24, 2015.

The report also noted that Hernandez made at least five phone calls the day before he died.

Records show he stuffed cardboard into the tracks of his cell door, making it hard for prison officers to get inside.

The report also said Hernandez knew about MA case law that says a prisoner's convictions can be erased if he dies before his appeal has been heard, as Hernandez did.

He continued, "Instead of protecting victims, they are punishing and torturing the Hernandez family who need to grieve". After getting him down and performing CPR, the former New England Patriot was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

After performing an autopsy of Hernandez, Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Henry N. Nields concluded the cause of death as asphyxia by hanging and the manner of death was suicide.

Massachusetts State Police released their final report on Hernandez's death Thursday, including a photograph of a blood-stained bible.
