George Clooney introduced parents to twin babies via Skype

Of his son, the new grandfather said George would be an "absolutely wonderful father" before adding his thoughts on Amal, "She will be - and already is - a magnificent mother".

Little Alexander already has dad's profile, according to his grandma Nina Clooney.

As for his son, the 83-year-old former anchorman joked, "George, well, his eyes were glazed so I'm not sure that he was sober. She is an incredible woman", he told Good Morning Britain. "Both sound terrific. They look great, and both George and Amal are doing wonderfully well".

He continued, "I'm supposed to be a reporter, therefore observant, but I don't know how to describe one lovely baby from another attractive baby, these are two handsome children".

The grandfather continued: "These are two lovely babies".

Amal's father, Ramzi Alamuddin, also commented: "they are in great health, all is perfect" he told AFP news agaency.

After news of the twins' birth had broken out, George's father issued his own statement on the matter, not long after the couple had introduced him to Ella and Alexander via Skype chat.
