Alves, who is expected to join Manchester City from Juventus over the summer, had been a target for ex-Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez when he was still playing for Sevilla.

While the 34-year-old's tenure with the Bianconeri ultimately ended on a disappointing note by losing the UEFA Champions League final with Real Madrid, he did win the Serie A and Coppa Italia double during his season in Italy.

Having spent many years playing alongside the Brazilian during their time at Barcelona, the World Cup victor knows all about the 34-year-old's talent.

Manchester City are as close as ever to signing Juventus star Dani Alves.

Alves left Barcelona on bad terms after falling out with members of the Catalan board.

Alves, thanked the teammates and Juvuetas fans for their support to leave Juventus on an Instagram post.
