Ford revealed the first pursuit-rated pickup truck in the form of the 2018 F-150 Police Responder.

There is no word about Ford offering a consumer version of this package. Those power boosts for the F-150 make in the most-powerful mainstream police vehicle offered.

Ford has been very successful with its pursuit-rated police vehicle lineup, from the Crown Victoria (RIP) to the Taurus-based Interceptor and Explorer-based Interceptor Utility.

"Additional F-150 Police Responder performance enhancements include a police-calibrated brake system with upgraded calipers and pad friction material, upgraded front-stabilizer bar for improved braking and handling, and 18" alloy wheels with all-terrain tires.

Powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine with 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, the F-150 is capable of speeds up to 100 miles per hour, while also having four-wheel drive for all-terrain police performance. Skid plates are also installed on the underbody to shield from curbs, parking blocks and rough terrain.

In the same interview, she said she spent her free time with family and her husband. Mirzakhani joined the faculty at Stanford in the San Francisco Bay area in 2008.

A standard class IV hitch gives F-150 Police Responder best-in-class towing capability of 3.2 tonnes. Rated at a healthy 375 horsepower, that gas-guzzling heart is mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission for smooth and rapid acceleration.

The F-150 Police Responder includes a number of interior features, including a column shifter, heavy-duty cloth front seats with slim bolsters and anti-stab plates, vinyl rear seating and heavy-duty vinyl flooring.

A police pickup truck? The floors are heavy-duty vinyl too, for easy cleaning. The latter - and the fuel used while police vehicles sit stationary but with the engine turned on - has come under renewed focus in recent years, for both environmental and cost reasons.

A 240-amp alternator is included to support on-board electrical devices, along with a police-calibrated speedometer, and engine hour and engine idle hour meters.

Ford's 2018 F-150 Police Responder will join sheriff's offices, border patrol, and state and local agencies this spring.
