Samsung/Speedo Deal Intros Swim Tracking To New Gear Devices

Samsung Gear Sport is the latest smartwatch entry designed exclusively for sport and with focus on swimming.

In June of a year ago, Samsung debuted the Gear IconX wireless earbuds as well as the Gear Fit2 fitness wearable. I didn't get as close a look at the Gear Fit2 or the Icon X earbuds - but maybe that's just as well, given how much the newer models improve upon their forebears. The Gear IconX also boasts of a new talent its predecessor never got the chance to have. The Sport will go head-to-head with the Apple Watch Series 3 with rumored cellular connectivity, which could launch on September 12. The swim tracking features will come by way of Speedo's swim platform service called Speedo On, which will allow swimmers to track a range of different details like how many laps they've swam, how many strokes they had during their swim session, and even how long each lap was. They help you continuously monitor your heart activity - whether it's enjoying a stress-free nap or an invigorating cycling class. ● Premium Partnerships: Daily activity can be supplemented with updated Under Armour and Spotify partnerships.

If we're talking Gear Sport versus Apple Watch, the divide is simple: The Apple Watch works on Apple devices, and the Gear Sport works on Android. Samsung is offering its new fitness wristband in a choice of black or black with a red underside. One can use the smartwatch even under the water given that it is waterproof.

The S Health app to support Gear Sport will be available for any Galaxy running Android 4.3 or later, any Android smartphone running on 4.4 KitKat or later, or any iPhone 5 or later running on iOS 9 or later.

The Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro is a more familiar face for those truly into fitness, sporting a curved 1.5-inch touch screen not unlike other fitness trackers.

According to WXYX-TV , Jacob found Dylan floating face down in their grandmother's swimming pool. Vial said Dylan didn't look ok, and he was rushed to the hospital.

Samsung's Kate Beaumont said the three new devices were aimed at "people who see no boundary between their life and their wellness". Both Gear Sport and Gear Fit2 Pro gain more insight through apps from Speedo, UA Record, MyFitnessPal, MapMyRun, and Endomondo. It can also hook into Samsung Connect to control IoT devices and serves as a wrist remote for Samsung Gear VR.

The Gear Fit2 Pro is also water resistant down to 50m.

The easiest way to think of the Gear Sport is as the Gear S3 with a sporty twist, as indeed the name suggests.

The first of these is the Gear Fit2 Pro, the follow-up to Samsung's Gear Fit, a smart band featuring a 34 gram weight, 4GB internal storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, and protection from the elements.
