Sony Unveils The Xperia XZ1, XZ1 Compact Packing 3D Scanning Features

Basically this is a mid-budget offering from Sony which will offer the users a camera which comes straight out of Sony's Xperia Z5 flagship device - making it really impressive.

In addition to the flagship, the developers introduced a compact version of the Xperia Compact XZ1. We don't know how this will actually work in real life, but we're obviously interested to find out. New stereo speakers with "S-Force Front Surround" offer 50 percent more sound pressure than previous Xperia models, apparently - they are indeed loud for phone speakers. There are 4 press images of the device and in HD resolution. The display might not be 4K but it comes with HDR support, 138 per cent sRGB coverage and a host of Sony technologies such as X-reality unit and TRILUMINIOUS.

SONY has finally managed to make the entire chassis of the XZ1 out of a single piece of aluminium although it is still not a unibody design with the bottom and top still being individual pieces. It also has the same rectangular design.

The right of the frame houses the volume rocker and the dedicated camera button. In fact, it looks like the people buying it in the US won't get the side-mounted fingerprint scanner as well. It will, in any case, be given a helping hand thanks to a microSD card slot.

The former two, the XZ1 and XZ1 Compact, both use a Snapdragon 835 chipset and are among the first handsets that will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo. Sony hasn't packed in more battery, trusting its parsimonious power management and a 2700mAh li-ion pack.

Both Gear Sport and Gear Fit2 Pro gain more insight through apps from Speedo, UA Record, MyFitnessPal, MapMyRun, and Endomondo. In June of a year ago , Samsung debuted the Gear IconX wireless earbuds as well as the Gear Fit2 fitness wearable.

As for the rest of its software, both the Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact will run Android 8.0 Oreo straight out of the box. The developers have called this algorithm the 3D Creator. Sony claims you can capture high-quality 3-D scans of objects in just 1min using the four scan modes; head scan, face scan, food scan and freeform scan. Each mode has its own custom guides for ease of use, and after finishing your scan you can share it with your friends via messenger apps using 3D stickers. The company touted that this feature could be used in conjunction with AR to immerse yourself even more into the virtual world.

The Xperia XZ1 will be available in South Africa from 1 October 2017 "at a recommended retail price of R10 999 at selected operators nationwide", Sony Mobile SA wrote in an emailed statement. The device is priced at 699.99$(around 44,000 INR).

The Xperia XZ1 comes in Black, Warm Silver, Moonlit Blue and Venus Pink colour options, while the XZ1 Compact comes in Black, Snow Silver, Horizon Blue and Twilight Pink options. And while recent years has seen the company abandon its Z-series branding to dabble with another letter at the end of the alphabet before coming back around to Z, there's a growing feeling that, at least in the U.S., Sony is just kind of shoveling them out.
