"Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways", a statement posted on Star said.

Previously we had learned some new information about Poe's alterations to his X-Wing fighter from Empire Magazine and now they're sharing a picture of Finn and Rose in the Canto Bight Casino.

In June, Lucasfilm sacked directing duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street, The Lego Movie), who were just weeks away from wrapping principal photography on the hotly-anticipated Han Solo spin-off.

He was officially announced as the director of Episode IX in August of 2015 and has also been co-writing the script.

Questions still linger about the mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke from Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and though director Rian Johnson says we won't be getting many answers about him, we will be seeing the big man himself in a non-hologram form.

Director Rian Johnson is the favourite take over at the helm of Star Wars: Episode Ix. It is obviously very hard to work with LucasFilm, the studio in charge of the Star Wars saga, which was bought by Disney in October 2012.

Surprise! Madonna moved to Portugal, and here's what she's up to there
In 2013, she colaborated with Steven Klein to direct a black-and-white short film "Secret Project Revolution". Her thirteenth studio album, it spawned the hits "Living For Love ", "Ghosttown" and "Bitch I'm Madonna ".

All of these exits are likely for different reasons, but what they all have in common is that events led to the people who control the current vision of "Star Wars" - Kathleen Kennedy, franchise longtime screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan, among others - losing trust in the directors.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will rise on December 15, 2017.

Trevorrow was due to write and direct the movie.

"The perception of these films is that they're all planned out on a secret sheet of paper in advance, but that's just not the case", he says. Is it the failure of The Book of Henry to blame? And in 2015, the company fired director Josh Trank from work on another Star Wars spinoff. Let's throw some names on the wall as possible directors for Episode IX and see if any of them stick.

This is the latest upheaval in the Star Wars universe. He wasn't fired, but Lucasfilm brought on Tony Gilroy to direct the reshoots on "Rogue One". Because, gasp, who is the last Jedi?

NEILL BLOMKAMP -- When Disney revived the franchise, the director of "District 9" seemed to be a favorite - at least among fans - to direct "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". "And I knew this would mean so much to me - the worst thing I can imagine is having a bad experience making a Star Wars movie".
