Destiny 2 Expansion 1 will indeed be called "Curse of Osiris"

Therein the player's Guardian will venture to discover the secrets of Osiris, a legendary Warlock, and his protege Ikora Rey.

Kotaku revealed before Destiny 2's release that the expansion would have that title and would include a new Patrol Zone on Mercury and a new social space, making it more substantial than the first game's initial expansion.

The planet could only be previously accessed as the setting for The Lighthouse from the first Destiny and for four Crucible maps cross the two games in the series. "It's real!" and while knowing that we're going to Mercury is an unbelievable feeling, we still don't have a release date. Dark Below and House of Wolves, expansions for Destiny 1, were heavily criticized for reusing old content and not providing much new stuff. The Xbox Store listing notes that Curse of Osiris will only be available as part of that season pass, so if you want to play it, you'll need to plop down $34.99 - a price that promises a second expansion in spring 2018.

A confirmation from Bungie still need to be made, probably in a couple of weeks after the Raid and Trial of Osiris are online.

Update: Bungie's marketing director Eric Osborne confirmed Curse of Osiris as the first expansion, but doesn't clarify if all the reported details like the release month. Though that's unlikely to be the focus of Curse of Osiris, it's perhaps entwined in the story.

A representative for Activision told Polygon that information about Curse of Osiris will be posted to Destiny's official website later today.
