Red Sox utility infielder Eduardo Nunez left Saturday night's game against Tampa Bay in the second inning after he came up limping running out an infield hit.

The Rays head next to NY, facing the overall wild-card-leading Yankees at the Mets' Citi Field, the series relocated by Major League Baseball to the supposedly neutral site due to the impact of Irma on the Tampa Bay area. He hit four home runs in 76 games before the deal, then had a power surge in 37 games with the Red Sox. The Florida native needed 109 pitches to get through 4 1/3 innings at NY on Sunday and surrendered three solo home runs among seven hits in a loss. Matt Andriese will start game two and is 5-2 with a 3.78 ERA and 60 strikeouts this season.

The Boston Red Sox will aim to go for the sweep on Sunday after winning game one on Friday.

Renato Sanches was the headline act in that respect yet the 20-year-old's debut proved to be something of an anti-climax. Not that this defeat should be pinned on him for one moment. "We brought the numbers down and it's far more manageable".

The Red Sox swiped four bases in as many tries against the woeful-throwing Miguel Montero and are 24-1 this season when stealing multiple bases. Andrew Benintendi and Christian Vazquez each chipped in an RBI and a double, while Jackie Bradley Jr. and Hanley Ramirez each contributed a run on the board in the win.

The Red Sox finished off the Blue Jays with a 6-1 triumph on Wednesday and pounded out 12 hits in Friday's 9-3 triumph that left the team 4 1/2 games ahead of the New York Yankees in the East.

Andriese allowed two runs in five innings to earn a win at Boston on May 14, his second victory in seven career appearances against the division rivals. In his previous six starts leading into Sunday, he had totaled a 4.54 ERA, but in four of those games he gave up three runs or less. He is perhaps one of the Sox' biggest pitching conundrum's, with the outing against Tampa Bay serving as the latest example. Boston is 16-7 in Sale's last 23 starts and 5-1 in their last 6 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 7-2 in their last 9 games overall.
