According to the Sun, Lemar wanted to move to Liverpool, rather than London.

Manchester United are preparing a club-record £92million bid to sign Arsenal's top transfer target Thomas Lemar in January.

And he could miss out again with United ready to throw their hat in the ring for one of Europe's highest-rated stars.

And, according to the Mirror, the Portuguese chief has identified Lemar as the ideal player to fill the void.

Monaco are open to selling Lemar - who dazzled for France against the Netherlands - at a certain price, and adding a player blossoming with creative zeal and a capacity to penetrate defences nods towards the direction United are moving in under Mourinho. Lemar wants to play in the Champions League, which Manchester United and Liverpool are competing in.

While Arsene Wenger is set on continuing his pursuit of Lemar in January as the replacement for Alexis Sanchez, Jose Mourinho has plans to intercept Lemar's signature.

Unfortunately for Gunners fans, Lemar did not join the list of big money players to move on from the Ligue 1 side in recent seasons and now, club vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has revealed why.

The Chilean striker's contract runs out at the end of this campaign and he is unlikely to sign an extension.

Arsenal will allegedly return for Lemar next year having missed out last month, but the France worldwide may be spoilt for choice, as United allegedly prepare a move to land him as Mourinho's new winger.
