Bungie has removed a Destiny 2 gauntlet that featured a "hate symbol" from the FPS, saying that the similarity pointed out by the game's players was "not intentional".

Destiny 2 server maintenance will be a monthly routine as clarified by Bungie although this extended maintenance period is proving to be a frustration for some users who are voicing their disappointment over reddit, Twitter and other social media platforms.

The armour, which website Waypoint discovered to be the Road Complex AA1 gauntlets, had a symbol that resembles the "KEK" logo which is commonly found on the flags of white supremacist groups.

Hurricane Jose lingers in Atlantic, will it head toward US?
Because Hurricane Jose is so far from land, the National Hurricane Center has issued no watches or warnings yet. But forecasters warn that long-term forecasts are often off by hundreds of miles.

The pair of gauntlets "shares elements with a hate symbol" was Bungie's exact wording. The markings were too reminiscent of the Kekisten flag, a symbol of an alt-right group. The "Kekistan flag" is a symbol popularized on 4chan that intentionally mimics the Nazi flag, albeit with the image board's familiar clovers and the Swastika replaced by a series of four Ks. As the Southern Poverty Law Center points out, alt-right protesters have carried this flag at various rallies and demonstrations. "We renounce hate in all forms".

Bungie CEO Pete Parsons later added to Bungie's statement. It's impossible to know whether Bungie's claim that this was unintentional is true, but the developer was swift to remove it from the game entirely either way.
