Woman, who was caught on camera slapping Army soldier, arrested; auto sized

Her vehicle has been seized by the police.For assaulting an unresisting soldier, the woman was skewered on social media.The soldier was quoted in some media reports as saying she "suddenly" stopped the auto, walked up and starting hitting him.

A report about the incident was made on September 13 after which a case was registered by the police and the woman was arrested.

"I respect army people, it was a misunderstanding due to which this incident took place", she added. After a junior commissioned officer filed an FIR, police had taken in 44-year-old Smriti Kalra from her home in Gurgaon. Later, Metropolitan Magistrate Lovleen granted bail to the accused Smriti Kalra after she was produced before the court. She then stepped out of her auto and asked Singh and his driver to alight their vehicle. The police said the woman then came to the truck, banged the windows and hurled abuses at the subedar, who then got out of the truck to speak to her. He tried to ask her about their fault but she kept abusing them.

She apparently blamed the constable for being an Army personnel after which he came back to the truck and sat in the driver's seat. The complaint said Kalra held the constable by the collar, slapped him and hurled abuses at him. She was married to an Army officer's son but since divorced.

In the video, the woman stops her white Tata Indica infront an Army vehicle ferrying soldiers and picks a verbal fight with one of them.

The army subedar has now submitted a video recording of the incident to the police.

Kalra was arrested from her house in Gurugram and her auto seized.
