World's 'heaviest woman' Eman Ahmed dies in Abu Dhabi

Admitted to Saifee Hospital in February this year Ahmed weighed 498 kg, however after surgery and treatment her weight reduced to 177 kg, helping her rally her overall health.

"I want to thank Abu Dhabi, VPS Healthcare Group and Dr Shamsheer (Vayalil) for everything he did".

Eman Ahmed weighed 79 stone (501 kg), when she passed away this morning at Abu Dhabi's Burjeel hospital.

By the time she left Mumbai after the operation, doctors said El Aty had lost more than half her original weight. Doctors blamed her weight on a thyroid condition.

Eman Abdul Atti, a 36-year-old Egyptian woman considered as the world's heaviest woman, arrives for treatment at Abu Dhabi's Burjeel Hospital on May 4, 2017. Doctors in India referred her to Burjeel Hospital, to be closer to her family in Egypt. Eman, believed till recently to be the world's heaviest woman, died barely a week after celebrating her 37th birthday, Hindustan Times reported.

The say that she subsequently suffered cerebral stroke, which left her bedridden until April this year when surgery enabled her to lose a massive 299kg.

Following the procedure, which was paid for through a crowdsourcing campaign, she managed to reduce her weight to just 176kg. After this she had been hit by many diseases.

Before her surgery, Lakdawala warned that Abd El Aty's various ailments would make caring for her a challenge: Hypertension.

Former world's heaviest woman, Eman Ahmed has passed away in Abu Dhabi.
