Explosion reported on Underground train near Tower Hill station

Later, a post on London's Fire Brigade said: "We've dealt with a small explosion on a train at Tower Hill station".

Transport for London (TFL) said some services had been suspended and there were severe delays due to the alert.

Daniel Griggs tweeted: "Blimey, someone's battery charger just caught fire next to me on the tube at Tower Hill".

According to the police, the incident was caused by a mobile phone charger getting overheated and subsequently exploding.

British Transport Police taking cognizance of this wrote on micro blogging site Twitter, "Incident at Tower Hill station is not suspicious".

On Monday, witnesses reported a "small-scale explosion" in a bag, triggering "panic and stampede" at Tower Hill station on the London Underground.

Authorities said they were called after a fire alert at around 12.30 pm this lunchtime. Around 5 people suffered minor injuries.
