The parents of Otto Warmbier, the young American student who passed away about three months ago after being detained in a North Korean prison for a year and a half, were interviewed by Fox News Tuesday.

"His bottom teeth look like they had taken a pair of pliers and rearranged them", Fred Warmbier said.

Otto Warmbier was jailed for stealing a Pyongyang hotel sign in 2016 and died days after being medically evacuated to the USA in June.

"We do see respiratory arrests from overdose - from medication overdose - intentional or otherwise", Bonomo said.

PEOPLE reported that the Warmbiers did return their request for comment. The University of Virginia student let out a "howling, involuntary, inhuman" sound that sent his mother and sister running from the aircraft.

The report concluded that the cause of death was brain damage due to a lack of oxygen, the result of "an unknown insult more than a year prior to death".

However, the coroner's report said Warmbier's teeth were "natural and in good fix".

However, Mr Warmbier said his son was on his deathbed when he came home to us, adding that it was completely unfair to say he was in a coma.

His hands and legs were "totally deformed", Cindy Warmbier said.

Fred Warmbier said Tuesday that his son "was jerking violently, making these inhuman sounds", when he was returned, but Sammarco said his condition was likely caused by "chronic brain damage".

University of Cincinnati Medical Center doctors found him to have suffered "extensive loss of brain tissue in all regions of the brain" and described his condition at the time as "unresponsive wakefulness".

Warmbier was seized from a tour group while visiting North Korea in January 2016, convicted of trying to steal a propaganda poster and sentenced to 15 years of hard labor, a punishment that the United States and much of the world called egregious. Doctors also did not detect any evidence of physical abuse or trauma, such as unusual scars or bone fractures, suggesting that the North, reasonably consistent with their claims, did not torture the boy. "Otto was systematically tortured and intentionally injured by Kim and his regime", accused the student's parents.

Sammarco said on Wednesday that the post-mortem examination found no obvious signs of torture. It listed manner of death as "undetermined".

"When you're not familiar with patients who have that kind of brain damage, I think it's going to be alarming", she said.

"The family's objection to an autopsy was honored, and only an external examination was performed", the coroner's office said in a statement in June.

"They destroyed him", Cindy Warmbier said.
