DirecTV Is Allowing Some Fed Up Fans to Cancel 'Sunday Ticket' Packages

Marc Hoffman, a now-former user of NFL Sunday Ticket, did manage to cancel the package and get the refund. This is notable, because refunds for Sunday Ticket aren't usually given once the season has started.

This year, however, DirecTV is offering an unprecedented refund for at least some subscribers who are canceling their subscription due to anger over players protesting during the national anthem. AT&T itself has not confirmed the news.

However, many in the National Football League were offended by President Trump's comments at a rally last week, in which he used the phrase "son of a bitch" while asserting that players who protest should be fired. One representative said full refunds were available for those who complained about anthem protests.

An AT&T spokesperson declined to confirm the cancellation policy and said the company would have no numbers to share.

World Oil Prices Jump Following OPEC Meeting
The Russian energy minister said OPEC did not agree on a freeze beyond March 2018, making it a key date for the oil industry. But so far rising production from the U.S., Nigeria and Libya has undermined the cartel's efforts to curb excess supply.

Football fans looking to get a refund on NFL Sunday Ticket may be in luck.

Once the season starts, fans usually are stuck with their subscription, but AT&T, which owns DirecTV, chose to change the policy due to the sensitivity of the issue.

President Trump followed up his comments last week Tuesday morning, saying, "For people to disrespect that by kneeling during the playing of our national anthem, I think is disgraceful". The statement sparked more protests on teams throughout the league Sunday. Those who seek refunds due to national anthem protests could be the rare exception.

National Anthem protests began past year when quarterback Colin Kaepernick refused to stand for the song, saying he wanted to raise awareness of racial injustice and police brutality.
