U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says the United States is communicating directly with North Korea through multiple channels.

He added that the U.S. is probing North Korea.

Asked whether North Korea would come to the negotiating table, the secretary of state said: "We are probing, so stay tuned".

Tillerson on Saturday said the Trump administration for the first time has opened up "lines of communication with Pyongyang.

We can talk to them, we do talk to them".

Tillerson told reporters in Beijing several diplomatic channels are open, and that the U.S.is seeking to engage in dialogue with North Korea.

Jane Fonda shuts down interviewer who asked about her plastic surgery
She sparked some backlash by asking Jane Fonda about her history with plastic surgery - a question that got shut down by Fonda. The most recent was Fonda, whom Kelly pressed to discuss her plastic surgery. "The itinerary just said Today Show appearance".

Tillerson, who met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other top officials, didn't elaborate and the State Department later appeared to walk back the remarks.

A senior USA official on Sunday told Reuters that Trump, however, does not believe now is the time to negotiate with North Korea and that existing diplomatic channels are meant to negotiate for the return of American citizens who are detained in the country. Also, he said, the process hasn't gotten far enough to find out what North Korea wants to discuss.

President Donald Trump, who has spent most of this weekend using Twitter to bully beleaguered Puerto Rican authorities in the middle of the post-Hurricane Maria humanitarian crisis, can not stop mashing that shitty tweet button.

He then said the United States had "a couple of, three channels open to Pyongyang".

I think the most immediate action that we need is to calm things down. For instance, North Korea has publicly promised to turn the USA into a "sea of fire", the same turn of phrase that it used back in 2009, and even in years prior. "They are playing a pretty active role and I think it's just changed the calculation in the minds of the North Koreans as well", she said.

Trump has offered fiery rhetoric and a tough stance against the North's nuclear weapons program, declaring in a speech to the United Nations General Assembly last week that the USA would "totally destroy" North Korea if provoked.
