"Australia will support the U.S. authorities in their investigation in whatever way we can, but we have not had contact with Marilou Danley directly".

The girlfriend of the man who opened fire on concertgoers in Las Vegas, killing dozens and wounding hundreds more, arrived in Los Angeles Tuesday night, law enforcement sources said. Police say the shooter killed himself.

More than two days after the deadliest mass shooting in modern USA history, the question of why someone with no known record of violence or crime would open fire on a country music festival was unanswered. She was out of the country during the shooting and returned to the U.S. on Tuesday night from the Philippines.

Two Nevada gun shops have confirmed that they sold firearms to Paddock in the past year and said he passed all required background checks.

She was expected to be questioned upon her arrival in Los Angeles, the New York Times reported.

"The fact that he had the type of weaponry and amount of weaponry in that room, it was preplanned extensively", the sheriff said, "and I'm pretty sure he evaluated everything that he did and his actions, which is troublesome".

Reports say she moved to the United States 20 years ago, marrying Geary Danley from Arkansas.

Authorities have been at a loss as to how a 64-year-old gambler and retired accountant had hauled a vast arsenal of weapons to the hotel and launched his assault.

At this point, Paddock's motive and aims remain a mystery to investigators.

Trump said he will travel to Las Vegas Wednesday to meet with law enforcement, first responders and families of the victims. Members of Congress reacted and responded Monday to the deadly shooting in Las Vegas .

Snyder said 12 of the guns found in the hotel room were fitted with so-called bump-stock devices that allow the guns to be fired virtually as automatic weapons.

"It just blew me away", said Rod Sweningson.

The abuse would come when she asked to use his casino card to make the purchase, Mendoza said.

Paddock's neighbors in Mesquite, Nevada, 80 miles (130 kilometers) northeast of Las Vegas, were similarly dumbfounded to discover the killer lived in their midst.

Paddock's girlfriend has since touched down in the United States after flying from the Philippines to be interviewed by the FBI as part of the ongoing investigation.

Paddock transferred $100,000 to the Philippines in the days before the shooting, a USA official briefed by law enforcement but not authorized to speak publicly because of the continuing investigation told the AP on condition of anonymity.

The Australia-based sisters of Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock's girlfriend say they believe Paddock sent her away so she wouldn't interfere with his plans to go on a shooting rampage. But officials haven't been able to say exactly when the money transfer took place or who was the recipient.

Her sisters in Australia have since told 7 News they believed he "sent her away" to the Philippines prior to the shooting.

The guns were bought in Nevada, Utah, California and Texas, said Jill Snyder, special agent in charge of ATF field division in San Francisco.
