Vegas shooter scouted locations in Boston, according to NBC

CBS Chicago also reports Paddock booked a hotel overlooking the Lollapalooza music festival two months before the Las Vegas massacre.

Stephen Paddock, the 64-year-old perpetrator of the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history, may have considered other targets in Chicago, Las Vegas, and Boston before he ultimately carried out his attack in Las Vegas on Sunday night that left 58 people dead and more than 500 injured.

ABC News reports that there is no indication that Paddock traveled to Boston despite internet search for hotels near Fenway Park.

Boston police told NBC News on Thursday they were aware that Paddock had scouted out the city.

Boston police say the investigation into the Las Vegas gunman turned up evidence that referenced venues in Boston, including Fenway Park. City officials are working closely with federal authorities. Numerous hotels researched by Paddock offered views that were heavily obstructed and Paddock eventually gave up on the search.

A total of 58, excluding Paddock, were killed and almost 500 people were injured in the shooting.
