The skit wasn't the only reference to Gadot's role as Wonder Woman on Saturday's show. After serving nine years of a 33 year sentence, Simpson was granted parole from a Nevada prison.

The bit was clever enough, and featured the episode's rare moment when Gadot actually looked away from the teleprompter to make eye contact with her scene mates. Fallon explained that she could eat, save, or freeze the second one.

"Will it help for me to comfort you?" "I do the same with German tourists", she said.

On a more somber note, Colin Jost and Michael Che touched upon gun control in the wake of the Las Vegas shooting and President Trump's visit to Puerto Rico.

Forty people overall are being treated for burns, injuries and breathing difficulties, local media reported. The mayor of Janauba, a city of about 70,000 in Minas Gerais state, has declared seven days of mourning .

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Jost added, "Nothing says "I understand the gravity of the situation" like a billionaire tossing six rolls of paper towels to hurricane victims".

Gadot - who famously portrayed Diana in this summer's blockbuster "Wonder Woman" - was midway through her opening monologue when Jones appeared, decked out in full costume. I think they believe that I'm the actual Wonder Woman. If you dropped her into that Pepsi ad, there's little chance you could tell the difference.

Kate McKinnon and Aidy Bryant ("Dyke and Fats" 4eva) played two women who row to the mystical island of Themyscira, and ask, "Who all here is a les?" In another, she played Wonder Woman again and shared a kiss with SNL cast member Kate McKinnon.
