All that changed, of course, after money-hungry Hollywood producers started to realize that even the worst sequels to successful movies could still make them boatloads of money. There were also two other new films that finished in the top four for the weekend.

The film features a solid cast including Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford and Jared Leto and "some of the most intricate and expensive production design and cinematography in recent memory", Collider noted, adding that "every image feels like a painting, and the sound design and score are similarly best enjoyed in a theatrical experience".

"#Blade Runner 2049" has topped the weekend box office, as "It" has finally been decisively defeated after taking the top sport three of the last four weeks.

The remake of the Stephen King killer clown thriller It has now taken $305m in the USA, and nearly as much internationally, to top the $600m mark globally, making it the most successful horror film.

Orton tried to end the match early with an RKO, but the Bulgarian Brute avoided disaster and went on the offense. It's time to give Big Banter some of his confidence back by having him win the United States Championship.

Blade Runner 2049 has made far less than expected on its opening weekend at the United States box office.

Warner Bros. Domestic Distribution President Jeff Goldstein said "Blade Runner 2049" had fallen short of expectations in mid-sized and smaller markets along with the South and Midwest, where the running time and Major League Baseball play-offs appeared to have held down attendance. "Where we did do business was in the major markets". "We definitely played to a more narrow audience than we had hoped for". Set thirty years after the original film, the story depicts a replicant blade runner named K, who discovers the remains of a once-pregnant replicant.

Coming in at number 2 is The Mountain Between Us starring Kate Winslet and Idris Alba with a US weekend gross of $10 million.

Made on a budget of $150m, typically studios spend roughly $100 million again on marketing, meaning to be profitable Blade Runner 2049 needs around $250m.
