Justin Timberlake announced that he will be performing at the Super Bowl half-time show in 2018.

Many pop culture critics have argued that Jackson's career suffered in the wake of the controversy, while Timberlake's thrived.

Timberlake first performed at Super Bowl XXXVIII alongside Jessica Simpson, Janet Jackson, P. Diddy, Nelly, and Kid Rock.

It's unclear whether anyone will be joining him on stage this time around.

He made the announcement Sunday on Twitter and ahead of NBC's Sunday Night Football broadcast in a humorous video in which he appeared alongside Jimmy Fallon, his longtime friend and frequent collaborator.

But it is unsafe , and it must stop", the envoys added. "Now they really should deliver", he said. With just days to go before the scheduled vote the IEBC has suffered a series of upheavals.

Other recent halftime performers have included Katy Perry with Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott, Mars with Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beyonce with Destiny's Child and Madonna.

Speaking in a faux accent, Timberlake asks his pal for the time, to which Fallon responds, "I was going to ask you, sir, if you have the time", People noted.

The last time he played the Super Bowl halftime show, the term "wardrobe malfunction" dominated the reviews. Timberlake joked that, at 36, he definitely wouldn't be jumping off the stadium roof, as Gaga pretended to last February.

Timberlake apologized for the incident and said it was "not intentional and is regrettable". Timberlake performed at the 2001 Super Bowl with N'Sync, and he sang "Rock Your Body" with Jackson in 2004 in Houston.

Of the way his experience differed with that of Jackson, Timberlake said in a 2006 interview with MTV, "It's an understatement to say that it was sort of unfair".
