StarCraft II will be free to play starting November 14

In a surprising opening move for Blizzcon 2017, Blizzard Entertainment announced today that Starcraft II is going free-to-play.

For players who already own Wings of Liberty, Blizzard will be offering the second expansion for StarCraft II, Heart of the Swarm, for free instead. You have to log in between November 8 and December 8 to claim that upgrade though. The multiplayer mode will enable gamers from around the world to compete against each other.

On the multiplayer side, new players will immediately be able to take part in the Unranked and Versus A.I. modes using the full set of StarCraft 2 units.

The move to make the game free to play comes after Blizzard previous year partnered with Google to allow the Web giant's DeepMind's artificial intelligence and machine-learning researchers to use Wings of Liberty for research. That includes the aforementioned Heart of the Swarm, Legacy of the Void, and Nova Covert Ops. Now, the entirety of this aforementioned campaign can be played free of charge. That's right! This isn't just one of those free weekends, the game's free entry will last indefinitely! Anybody out there still holding out on StarCraft II?

Aoun also said that he did "not think there will be war with Israel, because Israel would not win such a war". The attack was carried out by IAF fighter jets.

StarCraft is, by most accounts, the granddaddy of esports. Purchase required to advance a Co-op Commander beyond level five-with the exception of Raynor, Kerrigan, and Artanis, which are free to play up to and beyond level five.

We recognize that you might have found your way here after hearing the news that StarCraft II is going free-to-play very soon-on November 14, to be exact. This is not the first time Blizzard has offered free games to the users. Players who already own all three campaign packs will receive a special thank you in the form of an exclusive Ghost skin plus three new portraits.

Blizzard said that they will make sure to "preserve the quality and integrity of the ranked experience".
