Verizon, according to a report Thursday night by Dow Jones, has also signaled its interest.

Fox declined to respond to requests for comment.

If such a deal took place, it would leave Fox with its Fox News channel, sports channels, the Fox broadcast network and several TV stations.

Here's a snapshot of the company's trading week. Lionsgate was up 5%.

Comcast shares traded lower by 1.7 percent Friday in wake of the news of the possible deal.

Disney may be looking to buy most of 21st Century Fox, however, they're not the only party interested.

Roy Moore has been accused of trolling teenagers for sex by nine women, who could testify at Al Franken's Ethics hearing. Sanders did say, however, that a Senate investigation into the allegations against Franken were an "appropriate action".

What is clear from all the activity and Fox's lack of comment is that the Murdochs, who have firm control of 21st Century Fox, are at least willing to listen to potential sale options that would have been unthinkable just a year ago.

According to THR, Sony is now reaching out to Fox to see what properties they were planning on selling to Disney, but since these discussions are still in early stages, it's possible that their plans could change.

"Either Disney or Comcast would be a good fit, but its always about price and neither has to be a strategic buyer, only opportunistic", said JBL Advisors analyst Jeffrey Logsdon.

Fox was formed by the 2013 breakup of Murdoch's News Corp into two separate firms as part of a plan to "unlock value" for shareholders.

While Disney's interest in taking over 21st Century Fox may lie in regaining rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four, as well as adding to their catalog for their forthcoming streaming service, the other parties are said to be interested in the United Kingdom pay-TV company Sky - one of 21st Century Fox's many worldwide assets.

A week after reports of interest from Walt Disney Co in buying out much of Rupert Murdoch's USA film and television empire, the sources hinted at the prospect of a battle between other media suitors for the assets. "Some of (Fox's) key assets seem poised to spark a potentially robust auction, perhaps further underscoring a shifting paradigm of the overall media landscape".
