The new Vantage 2018 has been a hotly anticipated auto, which has been spotted camouflaged testing on tracks and in teaser images from Aston Martin. He added, "This is a golden era for GT racing and today's launch of the new Vantage GTE wil ensure that Aston Martin Racing remains at the forefront of the world's greatest endurance series".

It has a sporty and an athletic design with the muscular curves across the body, pronounced bonnet and sharp chrome lined grille. Staying true to the traditional sharp-nosed, flat-tailed bullet shape, the Vantage has truly become a contemporary vehicle, boasting a remarkably minimalistic design.

Active panels have been shunned for aerodynamic performance being provided by a front splitter and rear diffuser directing airflow underneath the vehicle, creating low pressure air.

"To conduct the development process of this auto so closely with Aston Martin's design and engineering teams was essential for both road and race vehicle to retain the same underlying DNA".

It is something that has been synonymous with performance since it was introduced and the British auto manufacturer is hoping that doesn't change with the new model.

Power for the new Vantage is provided by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine which is set as far back and low down in the chassis as possible to improve the car's centre of gravity and provide a ideal 50:50 weight distribution.

The allows it to accelerate from 0 to 60mph in 3.5 seconds and on to a maximum speed of 195mph.

Electronic aids on the new auto include stability and torque vectoring chassis assistance, speed-dependent electric power steering and for the first time on an Aston Martin an Electronic Rear Differential (E-Diff).

The chassis is an evolution of the bonded-aluminum structure in the DB11, but Aston says 70 percent of it is new for the Vantage.

The interior has been created to be sports auto focused with sharp lines in place of the usual swooping curves.

The auto has a surprisingly large boot space of 350 litres, which isn't bad for a two-seater 195mph sports vehicle.

The 2018 Aston Martin Vantage has been unveiled, bring a bolder visual appearance to one of the brand's most famous model names dating back to the 1950s.

First deliveries of the new Vantage are planned for the second quarter of 2018.

Describing the new Vantage as "a true sports auto with a sharper look and a keener dynamic edge", Palmer adds; "Creating a worthy successor has been a challenge to relish and a huge source of motivation".

"I thought, wow, we are already at this level, and we are only doing the shakedown".

Aston Martin has a new auto for would-be James Bonds on budgets.
