Recently, HTC released the update for the U11 users in Taiwan. VP of Product Management at HTC, Mo Versi, announced the Anroid Oreo 8.0 update for the phone on his Twitter handle. The update will be rolled out over-the-air (OTA) and should eventually reach all devices. After the update to Oreo, users of this phone will be able to enjoy new app shortcuts, notification dots and picture in picture mode, among other Oreo-related features. This has become something of a tradition for Mo: Around the same time past year, he took to Twitter to announce the Nougat update for the unlocked HTC 10.

The Japanese OEM was the first non-Google company to unveil a device powered by Android Oreo out of the box - the Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact. The only downside with the smartphone is the bezels on the front, but the company recently launched a tweaked version of the U11, dubbed as HTC U11 Plus. The smartphone was shipped with Android 7.1 in the U.S. market, which left users anticipating the update for Android 8.0 Oreo. The HTC U11 Plus already comes with Android 8.0 Oreo pre-installed. "Thanks", Versi tweeted. Over that, he said that HTC A9 won't be receiving Android Oreo OS update.

The HTC U11 is a great smartphone, but it didn't receive enough attention from the consumers in the country. After the update, users get different features including Reminders that basically alert users for unfinished tasks including emails in drafts and messages. Running HTC Edge Sense user interface, the handset comes with 8 sensors on the sides to register the squeeze. The feature can easily be customised inside the settings menu.
