The NBC sketch series took a page from the headlines following the news that former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about conversations he had with Russian contacts.

In the latest episode, the show started off with a cold open to celebrate Christmas at the White House.

But "Saturday Night Live" tackled that later in the show, and instead kicked off by making fun of President Donald Trump with a Dickens-inspired sketch.

The second ghost is Billy Bush, reminding him of the Access Hollywood tape and how only one of them suffered career consequences as a result of the tape and the other is president.

Flynn warns Trump: "Mr. President, there's a lot of people from your past that could come back to haunt you".

When Trump comforts Bush and tells him he's sure he'll be able to find a job on TV again, Bush replies, "I hope so".

Then the ghost of Christmas future appears, cloaked, and Baldwin's Trump assumes Steve Bannon is underneath.

Georgia, Alabama make four-team playoff
It was down to the Tide and the Buckeyes (11-2) for the final spot and the committee ultimately went with Nick Saban's squad. That's due to Clemson, Auburn, Oklahoma and Wisconsin taking No. 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively, entering Saturday's action.

"I meant someone American", Baldwin explained, referring to Trump's false narrative about former President Barack Obama having a fake birth certificate.

Trump drove him away, but not before Bush quipped, "If you worked at NBC right now, you'd be fired and out of money". "I hope so", the Bush character says.

"I'm looking pretty good in the NBC News division right about now", Moffatt said, referring to the sexual misconduct allegations against Lauer, who was sacked by NBC News on Wednesday.

Trump (Alec Baldwin) was visited by Putin (Beck Bennett) in the "SNL" cold open on December 2.

And Kate McKinnon reprised her role as Hillary Clinton to deliver this gem: "You, Donald, have given me the greatest gift of all: sexual gratification in the form of your slow demise".

Then, the "ghost" of "Vladimir Putin" (Beck Bennett) appears, and finally, the ideal "ghost" comes to say "Lock him up!"
