"Words With Friends" pals meet for the first time

After connecting through the online game, Spencer said he and Roz had played more than 300 matches together.

A young man from Harlem, New York, Spencer travelled to visit 86-year-old Roz, who lives in a retirement home in Florida after meeting her online.

Recently, Pastor Amy Butler of the Riverside Church in Manhattan agreed to set up a meeting with Spencer and Roz.

But the pair have formed an unlikely friendship through their Words With Friends battles.

Spencer posted the photos on Twitter, writing: 'So last summer I randomly met this 80 y/o woman on Words With Friends.

Last week, Sleyon tweeted about a friendship that originated over a year ago, when he and Rosalind "Roz" Guttman began playing Words with Friends with each other.

'We played 300+ games together and she actually ended up becoming a good friend of mine. Butler decided to make the trip happen after hearing Sleyon tell her daughter about his virtual friendship.

Words With Friends is a multi-player Scrabble-like mobile phone game which was launched in 2009.

"She came to me weeks later and asked me how would I be interested in going to Florida for a day to meet her", Sleyon said. Their first meet and greet was as sweet as you can imagine.
