Introducing Stories Highlights and Stories Archive

In your profile settings you can disable archiving your Stories at any time. Archived Instagram posts and Stories will be viewable here and only the user is able to see these posts. Your highlight will appear as a circle on your profile that plays as a stand-alone story when someone taps it.

Starting today, December 5, Instagram will be adding every story you post to a section of the archive feature.

Users can create as many Highlights as they want, and they can be continuously added to.

Together, these features could further encourage Instagram Stories' 300 million users to post more about a wider variety of content, knowing it doesn't have to disappear.

Moving on to the Stories Archive, this feature will save your Stories into Archive when they expire. Archived stories will appear in a grid with the most recent stories at the bottom.

The most dramatic feature is Highlights, which could brighten profiles with the classically more candid photos and videos that mostly appear in the stories.

As mentioned above, Instagram is also getting a Stories Archive feature. Tapping the Archive icon allows you to access your Stories Archive or Posts Archive.

Like your Instagram Story? Now you can save it to your profile.

Two new features have been added to the app allowing users to either archive their Stories for private viewing, or create a Highlight that can be viewed on a user's profile for as long as they desire. Essentially, these are permanent, curated Stories that live on a user's profile.

Currently, when users want to share each someone's post, they have to either save the image and post it on via their own Instagram account, or use apps designed for this goal, such as Regram.

Each Stories Highlight can be edited and removed by the user.

Instagram is rolling out a new update for Android and iOS. Just select a story in the archive to view it.

Brands and all other Instagram users can now showcase collections of their old Instagram Stories on their profile pages, the Facebook-owned photo-and-video platform announced on Tuesday.

Do you think you'll use these new Stories features? If you have comments regarding the new update do share them below in comments section.
