Apple announces best iPad app and game of the year

The Cupertino giant recently unveiled its App Store Best of 2017, which revealed particularly interesting trends when it came to games and apps on its App Store. The app has a plethora of tools that provide a ground for layer-based video editing right on the iPhone.

While Snapchat was the most downloaded app of 2016, it slipped to the number two position this year, with Snap-owned Bitmoji taking top honors.

Meanwhile, Super Mario Run was the top free iPhone game of 2017, followed by 8 Ball Pool, Snake VS Block, Ballz, Word Cookies!, Subway Surfers, Episode ft.

IPL 2018 Auctions: Retention Policy explained

On Apple Music, Drake's "More Life" was the top album of the year and Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" was the top song. Taylor Swift's album "reputation" has already shot up to #3 on the 2017 U.S. top album charts, despite having only been available for a short period of time.

A Star Wars Story and Wonder Woman were 2017's top three films in both iTunes and the Play Store. Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead were the top TV shows of the year while NPR's Fresh Air was the most downloaded podcast. If you've been keeping up with the App Store regularly throughout 2017, numerous top apps and games should look familiar to you, but there are some surprises as well.
