Why Is Amazon Playing Nice With Apple But Not With YouTube?

Amazon has launched the Amazon Prime Video app on Apple TV in over countries worldwide, just as Google pulls YouTube from Amazon Fire TV and Echo Show. A package that includes a game controller costs $20 more. Today, however, Archer is highlighting a newly uncovered issue with the video app's audio output.

Either way, with no headway being made in that domain just yet, Fire TV users who open the YouTube app on their devices are now met with a message informing them that "starting on 1 Jan 2018, YouTube will not be available on this device". You can always get the player on the device. It wasn't until relatively recently at WWDC 2017 when Apple and Amazon belatedly said they had reached an agreement to develop a dedicated tvOS app for the Apple TV. It also has YouTube, but not Google Play.

Apple's Eddy Cue added: "Amazon Prime Video is one of the most eagerly anticipated apps to come to Apple TV, so we're excited to bring all of that great content to customers". Yes, that's correct: Amazon Prime Video on Apple TV is finally a reality. "This isn't exactly what you'd expect from one of the biggest profile apps on one of the AV world's most expensive video streaming boxes", he wrote.

Why such good news for Apple TV owners, and such bad news for Fire TV and Chromecast owners? As far as 4K content goes, this is now as good as it gets. For UK users, there are no native All 4, Demand 5 or ITV Hub apps and, although All 4 now allows users to stream via AirPlay (ITV Hub and Demand 5 block this), the resolution and quality is pretty bad. "The question is, can you get it on there with acceptable business terms?" Though an iPhone isn't required, Apple TV will be most useful with one. This is bad news for consumers, as streaming boxes have been and are expected to continue to be one of the most popular gift items, since they are (mostly) affordably priced.

But all of them turn cold when they try to come close to Gujarat. "They are least bothered about the nation", Modi said. The prime minister added that every six months there were elections in one place in the country or another.

Having said that, Apple has achieved quite the feat with its latest Apple TV.

Apple might have a harder time of it in the United Kingdom where its content offering is flaky and Sky and BT have a stranglehold on 4K sports content. The movies, TV and music offerings are a bonus.

What's with the huge price differential between what Apple TV ($179 and $199) offers and the top of the line $99 Roku?
