This year's inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have been announced, and they have finally gotten around to adding Sister Rosetta Tharpe, who's got a pretty good claim to having invented that shit.

Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the Arkansas-born gospel great who was an electric guitar pioneer and who spent the last 15 years of her life in Philadelphia - she's buried in Northwood Cemetery - was inducted as an early influence.

The fact that Radiohead and Rage Against The Machine won't be inducted isn't too surprising, given this is the first year they've been eligible for the Rock Hall, and it can take years before acts are eventually inducted.

That ceremony will be held April 14, 2018 at Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio. Jon Bon Jovi later told "Today" that he had moved on, though he insisted that he still had a special place in his heart for his former bandmate.

The ceremony will premiere on TV network HBO and will be broadcast via SiriusXM, with further details to be announced in due course. Fans are already buzzing about whether or not longtime Bon Jovi guitarist, Richie Sambora, who left the group unexpectedly in 2013, will join the band for the induction ceremony in April.

Throughout their storied career they have released rock anthems including It's My Life, Livin' On A Prayer, Always, Bed Of Roses, Wanted Dead Or Alive, and You Give Love A Bad Name. The idea is that it's a celebration of what we were and what we are, he explains.

Ballots were sent to a voting group of more than 1,000 artists, historians and music-industry professionals.

It's a shame because the Rock Hall really had the opportunity to make this one of the more memorable classes in recent years.

One thing you can say about the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is that it knows its audience. The only fan selection that didn't get in was leather-clad metal band Judas Priest. Chosen by more than 900 voters of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, the six artists were chosen from a field of 19 nominees, with Bon Jovi winning the Fan ballot. English rockers Dire Straits, which includes brothers Mark and David Knopfler, blended blues into their music.
