Marvel Studios is gearing up for the start of production on their first female led film.

The cast of Marvel's forthcoming Captain Marvel movie just keeps getting better: first they locked Brie Larson into the title role, then they brought Jude Law aboard.

The news of Wise's role comes after Netflix announced a second season of Spike Lee's 2017 reboot series of his film "She's Gotta Have It", so it looks like we'll be seeing more of the Maryland actress in the near future.

Marvel is owned by Disney, parent company of ABC News.

With Captain Marvel, she is as powerful a character as we've ever put in a movie. With the power to transform herself into any form of energy within the electromagnetic spectrum, her versatile abilities have allowed her to fight alongside Marvel's most powerful.

DeWanda Wise is having a great ride as of late.

However, when Carol Danvers made a decision to take on the name of Captain Marvel (partially to honor her old friend, Mar-Vell, who is responsible for Carol getting her powers in the first place), Carol and Monica had a confrontation over the name issue.

He played the part in six movies, including "Avengers: Age of Ultron", "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and the first "Iron Man" film in 2008.

Captain Marvel will open a little over a year from now, on March 8th, 2019.

During her tenure, Monica did some big projects as she joined the Avengers and even came to lead the team.
