Packers Hire Defensive Coordinator

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Packers are "preparing" to nab former Cleveland Browns coach, as well as former Buffalo Bills and New York Jets defensive coordinator Mike Pettine as their defensive coordinator.

The Packers finished this season 7-9 and ranked 22nd in total defense.

During the 2017 season, Pettine worked as a consultant for the Seattle Seahawks. Philbin previously spent nine years with Green Bay-including five as offensive coordinator-before he left in 2012 to become the Dolphins' head coach. Pettine also was defensive coordinator for the Jets (2009-12) and Bills (2013).

The Packers have not officially announced any additions, but with Pettine and Joe Philbin reportedly on-board, they appear to have their coordinators in place - and both are former head coaches.

Jon Gruden has 'a lot to prove' upon Raiders return
No. 1, I love football. "How long I stay here will be determined by how well we play". "It took me six years of chasing Jon". Gruden initially coached the Raiders from 1998-2001. "Brady fumbled that ball", Gruden said, before turning serious.

His units were ranked in the top 10 in total defenses in the National Football League every one of those seasons, earning him a two-year stint as head coach of the Browns.

That should end soon as they hire a guy who loves to bring pressure and who's defenses regularly finish in the top ten. Philbin is expected to replace offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett, who won't return to the team in 2018. His defenses all finished in the top 10.

The Green Bay Packers' coaching shake up is now about to come to a culmination.

Pettine the job over Packers assistants Darren Perry, Joe Whitt Jr. and Winston Moss.
