The Seattle Seahawks have fired offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell after seven seasons, a source confirmed to ESPN.

Prior to joining the Seahawks in 2011, Bevell had a five-year stint as the Minnesota Vikings' offensive coordinator, as well as a run as the Green Bay Packers' quarterbacks coach.

According to the official Twitter account of Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network and Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, Cable was sacked by the Seahawks on Wednesday after being with the team since 2011.

The Seahawks missed the playoffs for the first time since Bevell's first season in Seattle.

More details are in this ESPN story.

Bevell's Seahawks tenure may best be remembered for his role in the play call that cost Seattle Super Bowl XLIX against the New England Patriots in February 2015.

"It's not playcalling. It's not playcalling", Baldwin said.

It's unclear who the Seahawks will turn to as a replacement for Bevell.

Darrell Bevell's time in Seattle has come to an end. We don't execute as a team. And that's on us as players. The former Washington and USC coach worked for Carroll with the Trojans.

The Seahawks led the National Football League in both yards allowed and points allowed in 2014, the year before Richard became the defensive coordinator. The Seahawks also ranked in the top 10 in scoring from 2012 through 2015, including fourth in 2015 when they scored the second most points in franchise history. Additionally, he led the Seahawks in rushing with 586 yards and three touchdowns.

950 KJR Seattle's Dave Softy Mahler reports Kris Richard is "out" as the Seahawks' defensive coordinator. Cable, who joined Seattle's staff the same year as Bevell, is also not assured of being brought back next season.
