Black Widow Solo Movie News Gets The Internet On Its Feet

Black Widow is the Marvel character played by Scarlett Johansson, who will continue in the role for the rumored movie, assuming the movie gets a greenlight.

Variety reports that screenwriter Jac Schaeffer has been tasked with writing the script for the upcoming film. Schaeffer is writing the script for Nasty Women, a female-focused spin on Dirty Rotten Scoundrels that will also star Hathaway. At the whims of other writers and directors who weren't giving the character the spotlight, Black Widow became nearly too malleable in the process. Schaeffer has previously worked on smaller films like TiMER, Mr. Stache and Olaf's Frozen Adventure, and the Black Widow project will be her first foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Two years passed, nothing happened, and Marvel chief Kevin Feige promised yet again that the studio was "creatively and emotionally" committed to bringing it to the big screen. Since then, she has appeared in 6 Marvel films and is scheduled to appear in Avengers: Infinity War later this year.

Speaking recently on the set of the fourth "Avengers" film, she said: "It's bittersweet to imagine not having these films to come back to".

As for solo plans, Cabello added, she actually wanted to remain a Harmony member while exploring solo work. While she asked to assist in songwriting for Fifth Harmony , Cabello's request was declined.

Schaeffer isn't a household name yet, but she's a Princeton grad with screenwriting skills good enough to catch the eye of both Marvel and Anne Hathaway. That's precisely why fans have been begging for a Black Widow solo movie ever since then, to explore the character much the same way as numerous other big Avengers were in their own outing.

Marvel fans have been clamoring for a Black Widow film for quite some time. The Black Widow project, however, has still not received the green light, according to Variety. Marvel, however, hasn't commented on any of these rumors and no official plans for a "Black Widow" movie have been made. Since Black Widow is one of the more prominent female heroes in the MCU, and arguably the most prominent hero on the Avengers team who hasn't received a solo film, it makes the most sense for Johansson's Russian assassin to receive a standalone entry. From there, her character became a part of the Avengers crew, showing up in four other films from the franchise, as well as in an uncredited role in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok.
