The Consumer Electronics Show is underway in Las Vegas, showcasing the world's largest new cutting-edge technology. That gives it an edge over the Echo Show, considering Google pulled support for the YouTube app on Amazon's touchscreen device previous year.

And both Alexa and Assistant are finding their way into cars; numerous auto makers this week announced voice assistant integration for their 2018 and 2019 models.

The feature is arriving on the company's Hopper, Joey and Wally devices at some unspecified time in the first half of this year.

Based on The Smart Audio Report, smart speaker adoption is occurring on pace with the rapid adoption of smartphones a decade ago. We can't wait to see what you do with the Assistant this year. "This is a big step toward making Alexa available wherever customers might need her", Rabuchin added. We will continue to roll out the Assistant to existing Android TVs such as AirTV Player, TCL, Skyworth and Xiaomi.

For analyst Simon Bryant at market research firm Futuresource, the current leader is easy to identify.

The reveal of Google's smart screens is fresh, so all of the details aren't in yet for each of the independent manufacturers.

However, he doesn't think that fridges and bath tubs are where Alexa will really become indispensable for home users, not least because most people don't replace such items often.
