President Donald Trump on Wednesday appeared to back off a commitment to meet investigators looking into Russia's role in the 2016 USA election, saying an interview was "unlikely" to take place.

Ken Nahigian, Trump for America's executive director, said the transition made the records request to the GSA to respond to the agency's role in the "unlawful seizure of Transition documents by Mr. Mueller".

Donald Trump continues to deny that Russian Federation even interfered in the 2016 election and insists he is not under investigation as evidence of interference piles up and Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller tells the president's lawyers he probably will want to interview him.

Special counsel Robert Mueller's team of investigators probing the 2016 US presidential race has grown to include Ryan Dickey, a federal prosecutor responsible for investigating several high-profile cybercrime cases.

Trump repeatedly dodged whether he would submit to an interview with Mueller by citing his claim there was no collusion during the 2016 presidential election. Trump then went on a lengthy digression that included solid gold hits like "no collusion" and "Democrat hoax", but failed to answer Roberts' actual question.

Senate Democrats released an extensive report on Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election, saying that it fit into a almost two-decade pattern of meddling with governments around the world.

The Trump administration is pushing American businesses to withhold fewer taxes from paychecks by February, aiming to quickly deliver the boost in take-home pay that Republicans promised their tax law would bring.

Ms Feinstein said she released the transcript with the agreement of the other Democrats on the committee, to combat the "innuendo and misinformation" surrounding it.

Smith further criticized Trump tweets for refocusing attention on the Russian Federation investigation, a story his guest speculated Trump didn't want to receive attention. "Must have tough Primary!" he wrote on Twitter.

The material wasn't classified, and Feinstein said Wednesday that she didn't do anything illegal.

At The Week, I explained why Trump's lawyers are so terrified of what will happen if the president sits down for an interview with Robert Mueller.

"When they have no collusion and nobody's found any collusion at any level, it seems unlikely that you'd even have an interview", Mr Trump said yesterday during a joint news conference with the prime minister of Norway.

"There is collusion, but it's really with the Democrats and the Russians", he said, adding, "the witch hunt continues".

Mr Trump has often invoked Ms Feinstein on the collusion issue.
