At the political level, India has maintained that there can not be Comprehensive Bilateral Dialogue with Pakistan, after the Pathankot airbase terror attack.

FATF is an inter-governmental body established with an objective to set standards and promote effective implementation of legal, regulatory and operational measures to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.

Kumar said Doval and Janjua also discussed about measures to curb terrorism from the region. "We, of course, raised the issue of cross-border terrorism in those discussions".

While Pakistan termed its decision to allow Jadhav's family to travel to Islamabad to meet him in December as a humanitarian gesture, India said the neighbour violating mutual understandings, asserting that the Indian national appeared coerced and under considerable stress during the tightly - controlled interaction.

MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, "I am agreeing that talks took place". The NSA meeting, he said, was an operational mechanism similar to the DGMO-level talks and meetings between the BSF and the Pakistan Rangers. He was told the meeting was useful and said it might help in restarting some sort of engagement at the diplomatic level as well, the report said. The spokesperson, however, made it clear that this should not be construed as dilution of India's position that talks and terror can not go together.

The protest organizers from both union organizations and civil society called for the continuation of the demonstrations. Protests were also reported in Gafsa and Tebourba, a town of fewer than 30,000 people, west of the capital, Tunis .

Kumar also stated that these operational-level mechanisms do take place.

The meeting, reported to have lasted more than two hours, was kept under wraps, but it is believed that the Indian NSA raised the issue of infiltration of militants into Kashmir from across the Line of Control (LoC) with active support from the Pakistan Army.

It was not the first meeting between the two NSAs in a third country.

The meeting is learnt to have taken place in Bangkok on December 26.
