Gerard Pique Agrees To Sign New Contract Extension With Barcelona

The terms agreed by the World Cup-winning defender have seen his release clause set at €500 million.

Pique is a product of Barcelona's famed La Masia academy system and a man who has helped the La Liga giants to an enviable collection of silverware since returning to the club from Manchester United in the summer of 2008.

Barcelona have revealed that defender Gerard Pique has signed a contract extension at Camp Nou to keep him in place until 2022.

The club says the deal will be formalized in the coming days.

A total of 25 trophies have been won by the Spanish centre-back since being brought back to Catalonia a decade ago.

The Spain worldwide, 30, has played 422 games for the Catalan club since rejoining from Manchester United in 2008.

Meanwhile, Barcelona now tops the Spanish League with nine points leads over Atletico Madrid.
