Apple previews iOS 11.3's new Animojis and battery service warnings

It is possible that in a later beta of the update, users will be given more information about their device's battery and can access more detailed power management tools. The augmented reality software will now be able to recognize vertical surfaces like walls and doors, whereas it previously could only identify horizontal objects such as tables and floors.

There will also be improvements to the Apple Music app, which will now feature music videos as well, and added security for HomeKit smart home gadgets.

Apple also announced Health Records, which allows users to bring all their medical records together within one app.

On iOS 11.3, the Health app will have a new feature called Health Records. Notably, the new version also packs up specific vital features that enhance the performance of iPhone's battery. Well, there's new augmented reality experiences, courtesy of ARKit 1.5, animoji in Messages and Business Chat, which enables iOS users to talk directly to businesses from Messages (similar to Facebook Messenger).

Four new animojis - a lion, bear, dragon and skull - will be introduced for iPhone X users, bringing the total of animojis to 16. It's unlikely to be available in the United Kingdom for some time yet though - the listed businesses now supporting the feature are all US-based.

An initial beta is available as of now, but the battery features have not yet been implemented. The first iOS 11.3 beta does not include the customizable settings for performance and battery.

Apple said it today introduced a significant update to the Health app with the iOS 11.3 beta, debuting a feature for customers to see their medical records right on their iPhone.

The iOS 11.3 update is expected to be available from during Spring, or March to May, Channel NewsAsia understands.

The Business Chat will come with support of select businesses including Discover, Hilton, Lowe's and Wells Fargo.

It's true Apple has been slowing down your older iPhone, but a new software update arriving in the next few weeks will let you have a say in the matter. The update is available for the developers for now but will launch for everyone this spring. All data is encrypted and protected with a passcode. In addition, the AR platform can now integrate real-world 2D images into AR experiences - such as bringing a movie poster to life.
