Brown Out As PC Leader

"Harassment has no place in our society - period".

Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey says he's disappointed regarding "disturbing allegations against former Ontario Progressive Conservative leader Patrick Brown", but emphasized the party must remain focused on the June election.

As the World Economic Forum gets underway January 23 in Davos, Switzerland, The Washington Post's Ishaan Tharoor and Danielle Paquette talk about what to expect from this year's meeting.

Jill Dunlop, who was chosen to replace Brown in Simcoe North and will run under the party banner here in June, would not even speak to the media. The Conservatives were believed to have excellent chances of unseating the Liberals, who have held power in the province since 2003, but have been embroiled in scandals and criticized for deficit spending. "It is. And that's the reality - that's why lots of women don't come forward, especially when it relates to workplace issues, so let's not pretend that we have a justice system that's actually protecting women and making sure that women see justice". "We need to move forward to eradicate sexual violence and harassment across the province". "Recent allegations are extremely serious and should be investigated fully".

Brown resigned abruptly early Thursday morning following allegations of sexual misconduct, less than five months before a provincial election.

In November, Claude-Eric Gagné, deputy director of operations in the prime minister's office, was placed on leave after he was accused of "inappropriate behavior". The movement has been credited with unveiling widespread sexual abuse and misconduct across the globe.

Patrick Brown has been turfed by the leadership of the Progressive Conservative party he led, so why is he still, technically, at least, our MPP at Queen's Park?

"The party's deputy leaders said in a separate statement that while Brown was entitled to legal defense and due process, "he can not lead us into an election as a result of these allegations". The allegations date back to when Brown was a federal MP in Barrie.

Politicians of all stripes were quick to weigh in, with the leader of Ontario's New Democrats calling for Brown to step down.

RELEASE THE MEMO: DOJ Seeks to BLOCK CONGRESS from Releasing FISA Bombshell
The committee reportedly could vote as soon as next week on whether to move to have the memo released. But others fear a smear campaign and say the document is based on misleading information.

CTV did not identify the women or show their faces. They were not identified by name.

"But I've never had anything as egregious (happen to me)" as allegedly happened to those two young women, she said. "Every one of them", Brown said.

Both the women alleged that Brown had ill-treated them.

The report said one of the women, now 29, said she was still in high school when Brown allegedly asked her to perform oral sex on him.

The woman, who was in university at the time of the alleged incident in 2013, alleged he began aggressively kissing her without her permission.

On the local front Fedeli also has a secret weapon in his wife Patty who is already bringing her husband's message to constituents speaking tonight to a meeting in Bonfield. But she recalls being told that she should be baking cookies, or told that she shouldn't be in politics because she's a mother. She asked him to stop, which he did and then drove her home.

"Within our work, we're just not surprised anymore by allegations".

Neither woman reported the incidents to authorities, CTV reported.
